D-Mannose - An Effective Medicine in Treating Urinary Infection

Not very long ago, antibiotics were considered the best medicines for bladder and kidney infections. These infections are basically a form of a urinary infection. These are also called cystitis or inflammation of the bladder. Although, antibiotics were considered an effective medicine, but the trouble with them is that they can not target properly to destroy germs that cause the infection. Rather they eliminate all the bacteria including the good one that are helpful for our wellbeing. Because antibiotic removes friendly bacteria as well, it increases the chances of catching yeast infection or an upset stomach.

With studies so far, in over 90% of cases of kidney and bladder infection Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria have been found as primary culprit. E. coil have small, sticky, and finger like projections that stick to the cells lining the bladder, urethra and kidneys. They further work their way deep inside the urinary tract where they colonize and disturbs entire urinary system. However, we have now a found a natural medicine to fight off these bacteria in the form of D-mannose. This natural product is safe and very effective medicine from the family of sugar.

It is extracted from fruits such as cranberry. D-Mannose is chemically similar to Glucose yet, unlike Glucose it doesn't raise the blood sugar levels. The way it works is more interesting. Little part of D-Mannose is metabolized in the body but the big fraction of it is dissolve quickly into the urine. They actually work to flush out the E. coil bacteria through urine. As a result none of the bacteria is killed yet are flushed out simply and quickly.

The pure form of D-Mannose powder is safe and easy to use. It doesn't affects the patient if used for prolonged period of time. Moreover, these are perfectly suitable for all age group including children.

Indeed, mannose is an effective form of medicine to fight off urinary infection but some precautions have to be taken during the treatment. In case if the condition does not improves even after taking mannose then it is better to see a doctor. Although, over 90% of all bladder and kidney infections occurs due to E. coli, but in some cases it might occur due to other micro-organisms. In that case you might be suggested to take antibiotics by doctor. Hence, it is always suggested to take doctor's suggestion before taking any form or dose of D-mannose.
